Santiago
Milagros Santiago, LNHA
VP/Administrator, Casa Promesa

A native of Puerto Rico, Millie came to New York in 1968. In 1980 she received a Bachelors in Science majoring in Business Administration, from Mercy College NYS. She later enrolled in New York Medical College/Graduate School of Science and received a Health Services Administration Graduate Certificate. She also attended the New School of Social Research/Graduate School for Management and Urban Professions to pursue additional education.

Ms. Santiago joined Promesa in 1995, as Associate Administrator to Casa Promesa, where she supervised the final phase of the construction, program implementation and opening of its facility. In addition to her many responsibilities Millie also participated in the planning and opening of Promesa’s current Family Health Centers and was instrumental in acquiring their Article 28 license approval.

Exposed to the long-term health care field, she felt that it was necessary to further her studies and enrolled in the Long Island University and received a Nursing Home Administrator Certificate. Subsequently, she passed the NYS License Nursing Home Administrator License in 1996.

In 1999 Millie was promoted as Administrator, a title she holds very proudly and more so because they received a 99% in JCAHO accreditation in the year 2001. As Administrator, Millie is responsible for the overall administrative and clinical operations of Casa Promesa, which consist of the facility’s day-to-day operations of support and professional services to ensure resources are used in a manner, which will maintain quality of care and services in conformance with all applicable Federal, State and Local regulations.

There are a few Latina women in New York City with the New York State Nursing Home Administrator License, and Millie is proud to be one of them.
