Sylvia
M. Figueroa Sylvia Figueroa plays an integral role at Banco Popular North America as the Community Reinvestment Officer. She is responsible for the implementation of their Community Reinvestment Program for its New York and New Jersey region. As the community liaison of the bank, she seeks opportunities to forge together the products and services of the bank with community needs. In sharing with Banco Populars corporate vision for community service, she partners with many community-based organizations. She organizes financial literacy workshops, fundraisers and volunteers within the communities in conjunction with ACCION NY, Junior Achievement, AARP and NYC The Department of Employment. Sylvia has been instrumental in the participation of all relief efforts made jointly with The Hispanic Federation assisting the victims in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Central America, Venezuela, and Colombia. The New York State Senate recognized Sylvia for her untiring dedication and humanitarian efforts in the communities with the New Millennium Woman Award. In 2003, she was presented with a proclamation from the NYC Council members for her outstanding efforts in the Hispanic communities of NYC. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade and Aspiria of New York have also recognized her. Sylvia is a member on many committees of not-for profit organizations like The Promesa Foundation, The Puerto Rican Family Institute, and Morris Heights Health Center. In 2003, she was appointed on the board of directors for the Bronx Initiative Corporation. She is an active participant in the March of Dimes, Breast Cancer Awareness, Juvenile Diabetes Walk for a Cure and Rebuilding Together in the Bronx for several years. She is also a member of the Latino Organization for Liver Awareness. As a member of Banco Populars Community Action Committee and its Junior Achievement Leadership Council she is responsible for articulating the banks strategy in the market place: to become the premiere community bank in the markets its serves while leveraging its unique Hispanic opportunities. She has over fifteen years of banking experience. She attended El Camino College in Southern California and the American Institute of Banking in New York.
