We offer many programs reaching out to youths ages 13-21. Our services range from a Transitional Independent Living Program to a Youth Drop-In Center.
Transitional Independent Living Program Residential Youth Treatment Program
Transitional Independent Living Program Promesa's Transitional Independent Living Program (TILP) is a 1 year residential program that prepares adolescent homeless male youths between 16-20 years of age to live on their own. A treatment plan customized to each individual is carefully developed and implemented with services that include: independent living skills training, housing assistance, educational/vocational training, social work services (short-term individual and group counseling), AIDS/health education, medical and parenting/family planning, recreational programs and related services. The TILP program has a notable track record and continues to excel. Residents maintain their goals by working with multi-lingual professionals who are skilled, dedicated, and caring and work closely with each client to develop realistic service plans. The majority of our residents are currently employed, while others have entered computer training programs. One of our residents has recently graduated from Hunter College with honors and another is a full-time student at DeWitt Clinton High School who will graduate soon and attend college. We expect to see continued success in all of our youth outreach programs in the coming year. Eligibility Requirements:

Residential Youth Treatment Program Staffed by multi-lingual professionals, the Residential Youth Treatment Program offers services to males between 16-21 years of age who have a history of chemical dependency, alcohol use, or a dual diagnosis of mental illness combined with alcohol or drug use. Upon admission, an individualized treatment plan is developed which provides group and individual counseling, medical and mental health services, vocational and educational assessments and services, family intervention and support services, AIDS/health education, and life skills education services. The Residential Youth Treatment Program focuses on the program linkage approach, which has been instrumental in increasing outreach efforts and formalized referral by working in conjunction with the criminal justice system, TASC and community-based education organizations. The trained and dedicated staff of the Residential Youth Treatment Program realizes that informational education has proven to be the best approach to address the issues of substance abuse prevention and youth intervention. This program targets the psychosocial factors, which play a significant role in the tendency towards substance abuse. We help clients develop and master cognitive behavioral coping skills to deter them from destructive behavior. It is Promesa's philosophy that substance abuse is a treatable condition. Individuals suffering from addiction can become permanently alcohol and drug free, rehabilitated, and lead productive lives in our society. Eligibility Requirements:
